What is a Soul Doula & How Can They Help?

Soul Doula’s - sometimes referred to as Death or End of Life Doula’s - offer non medical, holistic, emotional and spiritual (if required) support to people at end of life.

✨ They work to de-stigmatise the subject of death and to encourage open conversation around the subject.

✨ They work to ensure that people have a loving, dignified and peaceful death.

✨ They support the spirit and the soul of the dying person at all levels and stages of transition.

✨ They provide reassurance and support while helping the dying to experience the death THEY want.

✨ They honour and respect the spiritual beliefs and faith of the dying.

✨ They support families by providing tips on how they can support their loved ones at their end of life.

✨ They offer emotional support to those nursing their dying loved ones.

✨ They keep vigil when there is nobody else or when the family need a break.

✨ They work towards creating a death positive landscape, to normalise death and therefore reduce the fear and trauma surrounding it.

✨ They use breathing and relaxation techniques to soothe the person at end of life, and to help their loved ones.

✨ They use energy healing, music and scents to help the dying in their transition.

✨ They use sacred silence to support the process.

✨ They work in hospice, in hospitals, and in the community.

✨ They help to facilitate connection between the dying and their loved ones.

We live in a society where many of us don’t have a belief system, and as a result, death has become an increasingly medicalised process.

In years gone by, the death of a loved one was a community affair. Many of us would know how to care for the dying because it wasn’t hidden. It was an accepted part of life.

Death is a deeply spiritual process and I’m passionate about bringing it back into the community. Death is not something that should happen behind closed doors.

Spiritual belief should never be forced upon the dying, and some people don’t require this kind of support at all. However, having someone to facilitate care in a deeply personal way, is invaluable to most.

If this sounds like something you or your loved one could benefit from, it would be an absolute privilege to support you.

Part of being a Soul Doula is encouraging and facilitating conversation around the subject of death and dying.

If this sounds like something that interests you, or something you could benefit from, I’d love you to join me at one of my ‘Talk it to Death’ sessions.
